That’s all about to change with the IdeaPad Vibe, a new line of laptops announced at IFA 2026 that combines a truly eye-catching design with the sort of specs you’d expect from a serious productivity machine. Starting at $699.99, the IdeaPad Vibe is Lenovo’s most direct challenge to the MacBook Neo yet, and it offers something Apple’s colorful laptop doesn’t: the freedom to customize just about everything.
A Personality for Every Hue
The first thing anyone notices about the IdeaPad Vibe is its color scheme. Lenovo has moved far past the typical silver or black, offering seven unique finishes: Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue and Lowkey Gray. Vibe configurations are there whether you’re trying to make a statement in a coffee shop or blend in in a boardroom. The color options are not just cosmetic choices, they actually give you a clue about the hardware inside. The two more subtle shades, Moody Blue and Lowkey Gray, are the ones used with OLED displays, giving a little more meaning to what could otherwise look like a marketing gimmick.
In addition to the body finish, Lenovo has added a feature that’s almost unheard of in the laptop space – swappable keycaps, sold separately. Match the keys to the color of your laptop, or choose a contrasting color for a two-tone look. It’s a small detail, but it’s another way the IdeaPad Vibe gets across the message that personal tech should feel personal.
Options For Any Display Use Case
Vibe by IdeaPad is a two-screen size laptop, featuring 14-inch or 15-inch screen options. The user can choose between displays made up of different display technologies. On the larger 15-inch screen you get up to 2.1K resolution (while on the 14-inch screen a resolution of 1200 is provided) the full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage allows for vibrant colors that would suit well creative professions or media watching. Yet, if your main consideration is how fast a screen updates (i.e. refresh rate) and color fidelity is not that critical for you, the 120Hz IPS panel offers 100 percent of the sRGB color space; it is a good standard level for both productivity work and content creation on a daily basis. There will be configurations of the displays that look premium enough for the price level which Lenovo is targeting, and they will be the same in the two versions of the laptop.
Computing power and AI readiness
Under the hood, the IdeaPad Vibe is ready for the modern age of on-device AI. Lenovo is offering the laptop with either AMD’s Ryzen AI 400 series or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform, with an Intel option announced for a later date. Both families of chips are Copilot Plus PC-certified, meaning they have dedicated neural processing units that can do local AI processing without cloud assistance.
The AMD Ryzen AI 400 variant is the more powerful of the two in terms of memory headroom, with up to 32GB of upgradeable RAM through dual slots – a big plus for those who think they might need more capacity down the line. The Snapdragon X model can go up to 24GB, and the RAM on that version isn’t user-upgradable. Both options support up to 1TB of SSD storage, with an extra expansion slot available for easy upgrades. That kind of openness is increasingly rare in the thin-and-light category, and speaks to Lenovo’s seriousness about long-term usability.
Construction and Portability
The IdeaPad Vibe is also fairly portable, with the 14-inch model weighing 1.3 kg (about 2.87 lbs) and the 15-inch weighing 3.3 lbs. The chassis is a mere 0.59 inches thin and Lenovo offers all metal or hybrid metal and plastic body options depending on the configuration. Hands-on impressions from IFA 2026 described the build as solid and premium-feeling, with ovoid speaker grilles that add an architectural detail that sets it apart from the usual rectangular uniformity of Windows laptops.
Battery, Connectivity & Features
Battery life varies by processor. The AMD models come with a 50Wh cell in the 14-inch version and a more generous 65Wh cell in the 15-inch. The 50Wh pack is found in both of the screen size Snapdragon X models. Lenovo has done well in terms of connectivity with dual USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 1.4, microSD card slot and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 7, an IR camera with a physical privacy shutter for Windows Hello login and two 2W speakers are standard across the whole lineup.
Price and Availability
The IdeaPad Vibe models powered by AMD are set to arrive in October 2026 while Snapdragon X models will arrive in November. Both start at $699.99, placing the Vibe on the same price plane as the MacBook Neo, which it competes with directly. Intel variants will come later at an undetermined date.
